We knew it was going to be a great year, but less than four months into 2012, our expectations have been most pleasantly blown away.
Last week marked an amazing and honorable moment for Concannon Vineyard: James Concannon, founder of Concannon Vineyard and winery, was recognized as one of “The Great Irish Americans of Yesterday” at the 2nd Annual Irish America Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in New York. James is the first vintner to be formally inducted into the Irish America Hall of Fame. This prestigious honor was shared with many well-known inductees, including President John F. Kennedy, renowned film director John Huston, Signatory to the Declaration of Independence Charles Carroll, and Commodore John Barry, Founder of the US Navy, among others.
John attended the ceremony on March 14th, overwhelmed by this esteemed recognition. “It’s a great honor to have my great-grandfather recognized for his contributions and named to this esteemed list of Irish American leaders. His achievements have shaped our desire to build on his legacy of tradition with innovation in grape-growing, winemaking and estate management practices.”
And to boot, Concannon was the featured wine served at the event- Cheers to THAT!
The official presentation ceremony will be held this July 4th, Irish America Day in Ireland.
