New Year’s Eve Party Pairings

Concannons love to entertain, so we always look forward to ringing in the New Year with lots of friends and family in tow. Of course, these gatherings include plenty of food and wine, too.

This year, we’re sharing our pre-midnight menu and wine list with you. These party pairings are sure to make your last meal of 2012 memorable–and set a delicious bar for 2013. Enjoy and have a safe New Year’s Eve!

Appetizer: Smoked Salmon with Mustard Dill Butter
Pair with: Concannon Conservancy Chardonnay
This family recipe is the perfect opening to any festive occasion. Guests can prepare their own based on how much spread and salmon they want, both of which are complemented by the Chardonnay’s ripe fruit flavors. The dill’s crisp taste is also a perfect match for a Chardonnay like this.

Entrée: Martha Stewart’s Beef Tenderloin with Mushrooms and Thyme
Pair with: Concannon Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Hearty, warm and flavorful, this recipe calls for a big appetite and a good glass of red wine. Our full-bodied Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon pairs perfectly with beef, thanks to its bold fruit flavors of red cherry, raspberry and plum. Its cocoa aromas and subtle toasted coffee notes bring out the flavors of the mushrooms, too.

Dessert: Country Living’s Mini Brown Sugar Cheesecakes
Pair with: Concannon 2009 Late Harvest Semillon Sauvignon Blanc
These sweet bites are not only decadent, they are also easy to eat while toasting the New Year, glass in hand. To balance the cheesecake’s tangy flavors of lemon and ginger, pair it with our Late Harvest Semillon Sauvignon Blanc. It features hints of pear, honeysuckle, almond, and hazelnut that blend nicely with the sweetness. The zesty wine will also give you a little pick-me-up before midnight!
