Our favorite winter wines

Cold winter weather calls for scarves and mittens, warming fires in the fireplace and bold, flavorful red wines in our glasses. This isn’t the time of year when our palates crave wines that are crisp and refreshing – instead we want body and soul! Here are some perfect wines to enjoy with friends on a cool winter’s eve!

Petite Sirah: One of our signature varietals and a winter favorite, Petite Sirah offers a rich nose of fresh berry fruit along with flavors of blackberry, chocolate, mocha and plum. You’ll also pick up subtle notes of molasses, cedar and mulberry complemented by soft, creamy oak tones and a smooth, silky finish. Our go-to wine when serving a hearty lamb stew!

Merlot: A food-friendly red that pairs nicely with a wide range of winter fare, Merlot is lush and full-bodied with smooth, supple tannins. It offers classic flavors of ripe cherry, cocoa and even espresso, making it a perfect partner for prime rib rubbed with garlic and rosemary or pork tenderloin with a tart cherry glaze.

Cabernet Sauvignon: Often called the King of Red Wines, Cabernet Sauvignon is another cool weather favorite, whether you’re serving a meal or curling up in front of the fire. This wine offers dark berry flavors along with hints of green olive and oak. Cabernet Sauvignon is known for its lively tannins, solid structure and lingering finish. A great choice to pair with filet mignon or a hearty beef stew!
