Our Heritage Petite Sirah
is the best of the best at Concannon.
We only make it in the very best years
with the best grapes from the best wine lots. Our
big, rich, full-bodied Concannon Heritage Petite Sirah
is a reflection of Concannon's continued commitment
to quality for over a century. Its deep purple color
only hints at what this Petite Sirah has to offer.
On the nose, jammy black cherry fruit intermingle
with a touch of white pepper and a slight trace of
eucalyptus mint. On the palate, this Petite Sirah
has nothing petite about it. While it is big, bold,
and brawny, the tannins are as sleek and supple as
velvet, suggesting that they will hold the power of
this wine for decades. A touch of smoke finishes this
wine in completely elegant style. Our Heritage Petite
Sirah is enhanced by long term aging, 10 Years or
more.
As the first winery
to release varietaly labeled Petite Sirah, Concannon's focus on this full-bodied
wine has been part of our trademark for decades. Now,
with acres of Petite plantings fronting Tesla Road
on our Livermore estate, we're renewing our commitment
to this very special varietal.
In a departure from
prior east-west orientations, the new rows of Petite Sirah run north-south to
promote even sun exposure and ripening. We use vertical shoot
positioning to provide a canopy of shading and promote
good air movement through the fruiting zone. Evening
airflow from the San Francisco Bay also cools
the vines and protects them from overheating.
