With Spring comes renewal, daffodils in bloom, budding grape vines, and the warmth of company over a delicious Easter meal. As with any special occasion, a bottle or two of wine can be a lovely complement to time spent with family and friends around the dinner table. Here are a few choice picks and some pairing ideas if you’re entertaining this weekend.
Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon: A rich, expressive, yet meal-friendly wine, the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon has bold fruit flavors of deep black cherry, raspberry and blackberry, layered with vanilla oak. It pairs well with Wild Pasta Cacciatore or New York steaks with a brandied mushroom sauce.
Selected Vineyards Chardonnay: No holiday meal is complete without the versatile and friendly Chardonnay. The 2010 Selected Vineyards Chardonnay (a medalist at the 2012 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition!) is a refreshing wine with crisp fruit-flavors of green apples and sweet oranges, with a hint of pineapple. Goes excellently with a honey-glazed ham, or serve with your favorite chicken or fish dish.
Conservancy Crimson & Clover: Our beloved Crimson & Clover is a blend of signature Livermore Valley varietals (Petite Sirah, Cabernet, Zinfandel). It has aromas of nutmeg, mocha and coconut that lead into bright, fruit flavors and finish with a hint of vanilla. Pairs excellently with black pepper-crusted filet mignon, barbecued chicken, blackened salmon, chocolate, cheesecake, and, well, if you find something it doesn’t complement, let us know!
