Today, Livermore is the easternmost city in Alameda County and the gateway to the Bay Area for travelers from Southern California.
Situated between 4,000-foot mountain ranges and proximity to the San Francisco Bay, the 15-mile long appellation is ideal for growing grapes and has attracted winemakers as far back as the 1800s. A few of California’s oldest family vineyards, Wente and Concannon, were pivotal in the rising of California’s prestige as a winemaking region.
Getting the news that you have breast cancer can be devastating, particularly if you are underinsured or have high medical deductibles and co-pays. ValleyCare Charitable Foundation’s Women in Need fund continues to bridge financial gaps for local patients coping with breast cancer. This month the Women in Need fund received a donation of $8,120 from Dentists Against Cancer, and a $2,700 donation from Concannon Vineyard.

Today is International Cabernet Day, an event that could not go unnoticed at Concannon Vineyards in the Livermore Valley. The winery hangs its proverbial hat on the varietal that has been crowned king of all grapes, an entire month’s worth of activities are planned in commemoration.
Concannon Vineyard has created the Cab for a Cause program lasting the entire month of September to raise funds for ValleyCare Charitable Foundation’s Women in Need fund. Concannon hopes to help raise awareness of this extremely worthy cause as Breast Cancer Awareness month approaches.
